Mosaic tulips - great for gifts, great for you!

Hello!

Just thought I would share with you some of my new smaller mosaics.

I know times are hard, and I am so happy that many people seem to like my work - so I thought I'd make some pieces under £30, and hope more can enjoy them!

And with Valentine's and Mother's Day coming up, I thought I couldn't go wrong with some lovely tulips!

Tulips in a vase - 20cm x 15cm - £25

Two tulips - 20cm x 15cm - £22

Field of tulips - 15cn x 20cm - £28
You can buy them on my Facebook page, if you are interested - www.facebook.com/justmosaics.co.uk

Do leave a comment if you've got a mo - it's good to know there is someone out there!

Photo to mosaic art!

I have been meaning to make this mosaic for some time - and although I am very happy making Valentine mosaics ( keep the orders coming in!), I needed to have a little change for a day or two, while I waited for some deliveries!

This is a photo of one of my favourite views on my dog walking trails, with Pip.  It is in The Dingle near where I live in Bristol.  I must have taken numerous photos of it at different times of the year, and it never fails to inspire me.

So I have made this mosaic of it, which was a bit of a risk as it IS one of my favourite places - but I am happy with the end result - the peace, the reflections, the colours....

It got me thinking that maybe you have a favourite place/holiday view/ building/scene  ...  whatever - that you might want set in stone, as it were!  It would be an impression of it, of course, but sometimes that's the thing that remains with you, and means the most - and that would be my challenge.  I can work from a photo.

A bespoke mosaic of this size 40cm x 30cm would be approx £250 plus p&p.  I say this because I have had a number of enquiries recently of clients wanting one of my mosaics but with a totally unrealistic idea of what they might cost - which can lead to disappointment all round, really ... just saying!

Each tile is lovingly hand cut - each mosaic an original work of art!

How I made a mosaic poppy!

I thought you might like to see the process I went through making a mosaic poppy, for the Royal British Legion in Bristol.  They are going to auction it at a fundraising event in February.

Sorry about the quality the photos - but that's how it is in the studio!

1. Design poppy and draw on 12ml MDF  - this one is about the size of a large dinner plate.

.
2. Make templates for the inner petals, to give a 3D effect, and cut them out in 6ml MDF.

3. Stick the inner MDF petals on the poppy and start cutting and sticking the tiles.

4...keep going...

5...until it is, as you want it!

6. Cut middle tiles to look like seeds and stick them in - a bit fiddly!

7. Get grouting and cleaning! My fingers are my best tools, but they suffer afterwards!

8.One mosaic poppy!

Lest we forget...
